Adele Scarfoni Men Of The Trees, Hazelmere
When did you join the industry and what was your first job?
I started at Men of the Trees in 2012 but my first job was at Secret Garden when I was 18 doing landscaping and working in their nursery. My first day was probably lugging mulch around.
If you could invite one person (living or dead) to dinner, who would it be?
Gee, I don’t know. Some environmentalist, I suppose. Peter Garrett would be interesting to sit down and have a chat with (pre-environment minister days). But I would go gooey-eyed over Johnny Depp or Dan Sultan.
Other than gardening, what is your favourite pastime?
Bushwalking anywhere, when camping up in the hills, around home. I always have my camera for wildflower shots and birds. I’m a superdag!
Who has been your biggest influence (work or life)?
I think Jenny Alford who was a botanist that I worked with when I was an environmental consultant. She knows everything. I aspire to be like her, to know the name of everything. She’s also got a light-hearted character.
Somewhere you would like to visit?
I’ve never been to the Top End or through the Northern Territory. I reckon that would be pretty cool.
